Overview

The Challenge

Kenya’s financial sector and larger companies had no clear, evidence-based picture of how ready they were for nature-related financial disclosure, a gap that made it hard for regulators and businesses alike to plan their next move.

Our Approach

For UNDP-Kenya’s BIOFIN programme, Lybra led a nature-related disclosure readiness assessment, reviewing Kenya’s policy landscape against the Global Biodiversity Framework’s Target 15 and engaging regulators, financial institutions, corporates, and civil society through stakeholder interviews and questionnaires.

Policy Landscape Review

Reviewed Kenya’s policy landscape against the Global Biodiversity Framework’s Target 15.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engaged regulators, financial institutions, corporates, and civil society through interviews and questionnaires.

Gap Analysis

Produced findings on institutional, regulatory, and sectoral gaps in nature-related financial reporting.

Validated Roadmap

Proposed an implementation roadmap, refined through a stakeholder validation workshop.

Nature-related risk is a distinct and still-emerging discipline in the region, and this assessment gave Kenya's regulators and businesses an evidence base to plan their next move.
